Château de Geraud

AOC Monbazillac

The Story

It is from the Chartreuse which overhangs this magnificent soil of 39ha, that we can admire the Dordogne and the hillsides of Monbazillac. The first bottling on the property took place in 1920 which belongs to the Gérardin family since the 18th century. This is the way that a family work was born, which transmits his knowledge and his passion for the vine, from generation to generation. It is while taking advantage of the North exposure that the vines can benefit from the humidity and the alternated period of sunshine. This microclimate offers an idyllic frame to the “noble rot”. It is an essential part of the elaboration of this fruity nectar. Indeed, the microscopic mushroom absorbs the water inside the berry which will concentrate the sugar and the aromas.

The Wine

80% Sémillon, 10% Sauvignon, 10% Muscadelle

This wine is the result of vines having an exceptional age quality, more than 50 years. It offers us a beautiful gold color who reminds of its honey aromas, coupled with a oral and opened nose. In mouth it brings purity with his touches of exotic fruits, pineapple, and a discrete acid avor which reminds grapefruit. The soil is made of “graves” (sand, gravel…) brings a complexity in mouth and ne wood aromas to nally end on a fruity note.
