Expert Pascal Poussevin already strolls around the vineyards, first opinion.
In-house winemaker Pascal Poussevin travels through the regional vineyards on a daily basis:
While spring is very shy in Bordeaux this year, the vegetation grows very slowly and is practically 2 weeks late in its cycle.
Buds and leaves are only just bursting and the frost forecasting for tomorrow Thursday 25th April is worrying.
The vine is very vulnerable as soon as the young leaves appear as they have a high water content. When humidity rises, young buds can freeze at -2 to 3°C. Frost never kills the vine completely but can destroy the entire crop.
